Fleshtones
by
John Britton
Performed by John Britton & Hilary Elliott
Music Composed by Ben Grant
Fleshtones is a spoken and danced conversation between
two ex-lovers. It dissects their relationship with humour, passion and
an acute lack of sentimentality. It explores recrimination, self-justification
and residual attraction in the aftermath of a grand passion.
And it wonders how the conversation is affected by the
fact that one of the lovers is dead.
Fleshtones is profoundly moving, utterly real, beautifully
written and shot through with redemptive humour.
It was created initially in 2002 and received further
development and performance seasons in Melbourne in 2003.
Following its initial season in Melbourne, Fleshtones
was recorded by the ABC and broadcast on Airplay, Radio National’s
premier forum for new Australian writing.
Fleshtones runs for one hour and is suitable to smaller
venues, which allow for direct interaction between performer and audience.
"guarantees
to churn one's own memories or fears in regard to broken relationships...a
stirring and compelling production...an invigorating performance."
