Britton –
artistic director of quiddity theatre/scriptwriter/performer
John Britton has been writing and performing original performance works since completing his MA in 1988. His writing credits include Fleshtones, Adam’s Apple, The River Project, Time & Tide, Cyclops Alley (Quiddity Theatre) Into The Storm (West Yorkshire Playhouse), This Island Mine & The Alcohol Show (Monash Student Theatre), The 18.12 To Tashkent & The Path (Aztec Theatre) and contributions to the text of 98.4% DNA – Being Human (Desoxy Theatre). He has recently completed Standards #1- 4 a quartet of radio plays and Fishing Nets, a book of short stories . He has worked as a touring story-teller, an ensemble physical theatre performer and performer in his own work and with companies such as Eclectic Pelican, The Blahs (UK) Yorkshire Television and, most recently, ABC Radio. He has directed The Little Sweep for OzOpera (Australia) and O Sotao for ESMAE, one of Portugal's leading Actor Training Instituitons. He was nominated for a Victorian Green Room Award for Oustanding Direction for Dirty Laundry and his 2002 script, Fleshtones has been broadcast on ABC Radio National (Australia). He teaches regularly across Australia and the UK/Europe, specialising in Improvisation as Actor Training and Ensemble Development. |
